Rebel Wilson has achieved worldwide fame with her deadpan sense of humor and energetic demeanor. She has won the hearts of many with her films such as Pitch Perfect, Bridesmaids, Pain and Gain, and many more. Wilson is now a fixture on the Hollywood scene and is picking up only the best acting roles. In addition to her film credits, Rebel has acted in TV shows, theater, and much more. The A-list actress was born in Sydney, Australia in 1980. She is one of four children and had a relatively normal childhood. Rebel was not an outgoing child, but a very timid and shy kid. Her shyness even bordered on a social disorder.
Seeing it all unfold, Rebel’s mother took action. She sent her to an acting class in their community of New South Wales. Soon, the young girl caught the acting bug and could not stop flexing her new found skill. It seems that the funny bone runs in the family. Wilson noted that her whole family thought they were funnier than her, even though she made a career out of her sense of humor.
Rebel Wilson attended an all-girls Catholic high school in her hometown. This was a good environment because the girls were encouraged and supported to pursue their dreams. This environment only fueled Rebel’s dreams to become a well-known actress. Wilson became very active in her life and joined the Australia’s Rotary International Youth Ambassador Program. The group took a trip to South Africa where the 17 year old Rebel contracted malaria. This unfortunate experience induced the teen to hallucinate she would win an Oscar. Luckily, she recovered and made it back home in one piece.
Back at home, Wilson decided to pursue a higher education and attended the University of New South Wales. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in performance and theatre studies. Continuing on, Rebel also earned a law degree from the same university. In addition to earning a degree, the young actress joined the Australian Theater for Young People.
She even won a trip to New York City paid by fellow famous Australian actress Nicole Kidman. Before making it big in Hollywood, Rebel made a name for herself in Australia. She starred in roles that catapulted her to stardom including Pizza and Bogan Bride.
