November 25, 2016 was a leap forward for OSI Group as they were presented with the prestigious Globe of Honour Award at a luncheon held at Draper’s Hall in London. The award was presented by the British Safety Council for its laudable oversight of environmental risks.
OSI Group has been operating in the U.K. since 1989, producing beef and pork products for restaurants. Notably, they were also winners of the Globe of Honour in 2013 and 2015. OSI Group was one out of 61 other organizations world wide to receive the Globe of Honour reward in 2015.
Eighteen other organizations were also given the Globe of Honour in 2016. The British Safety Council Globe of Honour award is the “pinnacle of achievement in the world of health, safety and environmental management,” as stated on the BSC website. Companies operating sites on British soil must first earn five stars in the BSC’s Five Star Environmental Audit before being eligible to apply. Companies should exhibit to an independent panel of experts that they are superb in managing environmental issues throughout the their industry, this means from the factory or shop floor all the way up to the boardroom.
OSI Group’s Kelly Grimwood was presented the award by Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council. “Leadership is a key factor in achieving excellence. You can legislate for compliance, but you have to isnpsire people towards excellence…,” Grimwood said upon receiving the reward.
