How End Citizens United Could Save America

The push to make legislative change in Washington D.C., for the sake of the people, is upon us. End Citizens United is a political action committee that was established by president Tiffany Muller. Her goal was simple: to bring equality back to Washington legislation by ending one of the most horrific and damaging Supreme Court cases in recent memory: the 2010 Citizens United decision. This decision, of course, involved a conservative group named Citizens United as they lobbied the Supreme Court to open the books and allow for more lobbying and special interest in the political machine. The decision passed, somehow, and since then the U.S. government has been completely beholden by corporate millionaires. End Citizens United looks to change this all.

Tiffany Muller knows that the long path to ending Citizens United is still ahead of her, but there are some great signs that things might be finally going in the right direction. For starters, since the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States there has been a surge in donors and activists looking to make End Citizens United a reality. The goal of the group is to get legislation set in place in order to repeal the Citizens United decision. This doesn’t happen in a vacuum and it is going to take a ton of hard work in order to get there.

Over the first quarter of 2017 End Citizens United saw an amazing surge in donations that amounted to an eye popping $4 million. These donations came almost exclusively from small donors with the average amount given only near $12. This PAC was created for the people and it is being run by the people, so the proof is in the pudding that End Citizens United is operating completely separate from special interests of their own. The PAC has seen over 100,000 people give money to the cause while an additional 40,000 have literally donated their time to attend and promote the group at activist meetings. Muller says, “This is their way of fighting back.” Muller goes on to say that Democrats, moderate conservatives, and independents are all furious at the way that President Trump is belittling the Presidency while destroying the nation.

End Citizens United doesn’t have a new mission, at least not in the grand scheme of things, and they aren’t the first group to really go after the Citizens United decision. However, Muller and her group are by far the most effective because they know what it takes to get the job done. In order for End Citizens United to make their name a reality they will have to help fund politicians who are ready to introduce legislation that destroys Citizens United.

George Soros Returns to Politics to Combat President Trump

George Soros is one of the leading philanthropists on the entire planet and he is also one of the most progressive political activists, as well. Soros is most well-known for his run in the 2004 Presidential Election as he backed nominee Al Gore. Soros took a backseat from the overt political world after that election in order to focus on creating a viable, grassroots world of progressive politics. The Ferguson Protests erupted back in 2015 in the wake of the death of Michael Brown by a police officer, Darren Wilson. The shooting would bring to light many issues within the city of Ferguson related directly to how police approached minority subjects at a disproportionate amount. The protests would bring to light the very real problem of social justice thanks to a strong grassroots campaign by the activists therein. Though George Soros wasn’t physically marching in Ferguson, it should be said that his work helped to make it possible. Of course, we are talking about how Soros helped fund these grassroots campaigns by way of his Open Society Foundations.

George Soros believes, more than anything, that democracy belongs to the people. This is the exact reason that Soros pushes so hard to give more power, by way of philanthropic donations to grassroots foundations, to the people. Over the span of the year leading up to and including the Ferguson shooting Soros would donate some $33 million. These funds were used by the activists to keep their message on point and loud, making sure that the world could not ignore them. Kenneth Zimmerman, the director of Open Society Foundations, stated: “Our DNA includes a belief that having people participate in government is indispensable to living in a more just, inclusive, democratic society.” That is why Soros, Zimmerman, and the Open Society Foundations are helping to keep communities organized. Outside of his work in Ferguson we have seen a renewed interest by George Soros into the broader political climate of the United States. George Soros returned to the political forefront during the 2016 Presidential Election in order to help support Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. Soros had mostly shied away from donating to Presidential campaigns after working with Al Gore, due to the notion that he wanted more power to be in people rather than donations, but the rise of Trump was simply too much to ignore. Soros would go on to donate nearly $25 million across several Democratic causes, including a Pro Clinton Super PAC.

Despite Clinton losing in the November Election it is very clear that George Soros is here to stay. Soros is uniting several prominent liberal donors in order to craft a way to fight back against President Trump and his destructive agenda. Expect to see more of Soros in the near future as he continues to fight for progress. Learn more on Discover the Networks about George Soros.

The shocking win by Donald Trump prompted George Soros and the other member of the Democratic Alliance to convene a meeting to discuss the way forward. The Democratic Alliance members at http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/1997/02/the-capitalist-threat/376773/ felt that they should do something to challenge the election of Donald Trump. The aim of doing this is to protect and safeguard the Obama legacy that Trump had promised to discard. One of the legacies that DA feels the Trump regime might assault includes the ObamaCare.

The meeting was held at Mandarin Hotel in Washington. The meeting was sponsored by the Democrat All Donor Club. The meeting brought together member of the DA, union leaders, and liberal groups on nytimes.com.

In this meeting, Soros together with other Democrat diehards and liberals discussed the reasons for losing the elections. They noted that Hillary lost as the Democrat failed to capture the entire working class whites vote which Trump did. Besides, the money and climate were not a major factor in the just concluded elections. They realized that majority of the liberal activists resided in the coastal cities and did not connect with the working class whites.

Therefore, the DA decided that to retrace this working class votes, the alliance should invest in training the officials and come up with state policies. The activist should also win the confidence of the working class whites. The DA donors should invest in the formulation of and implementation of the state and local strategies that would prevent assault to the Obama legacies.

Soros and his fellow wealthy donors and Democrats just want to ensure that Trump regime respects and upholds the immense work that the outgoing president has done. The meeting was not bound to challenge the decision of the majority, but to make sure the incoming regime will not oppress the citizens.
