Basically, they contributed funds for the chemistry lab space of Lester Wolfe Professor of Chemistry, Moungi Bawendi’s nanochemistry and nanotechnology. This lab space is located in building 2 of the MIT campus.Scott Rocklage and his wife Patty felt indebted to the chemistry section of MIT. Scott got his Ph.D there, while studying under Richard R. Schrock. Richard R. Schrock won the Nobel Prize for his work in chemistry. Because MIT gave Scott Rocklage the foundation for his professional career, he was extremely grateful and decided to offer this gift.

Recently, a tour of the newly renovated lab was given. It was led by Professor Moungi Bawendi himself, along with two of his graduates, Whitney Hess and He Wei. They led a tour of the entire vestibule of the lab. There, plaques that were put up to honor Patty Rocklage and Scott Rocklage were put up. A lot of people who were at the tour heaped lots of praises on the Rocklages for doing this most noble deed. Timothy Jamison is currently the head of the chemistry department. Sylvia Ceyer is the former head of the chemistry department. They, along with Professor Moungi Bawendi himself, all gave tributes to Scott Rocklage and Patty Rocklage. Scott and Patty were so willing to give that when asked by Ceyer, Scott immediately said sure and only asked what exactly they need.
